HISTORIC DOWNTOWN GOLDEN FACADE
TRANSFORMATION |
When looking for an architect to help renovate several of the historic facades in downtown Golden, the Golden Urban Renewal Authority wanted a local architect with experience in historic renovations. Ewers Architecture fulfilled all their requirements. Working with eight different buildings with different owners, different desires, and different requirements, we created unique schematic designs for all of these facades. Some of these facades are truly historic facades that needed careful attention to replace some of their previous glory (like the Ashworth Building or the Piggly Wiggly). And some of these buildings have had their historic façade entirely removed and were in need of a creative way to present a more interesting public face (like the IOOF building or the City Tailor Shop). All are precious buildings with a long history and stories to tell, and these renovations will give them new life and a new story to tell. The drawings below are a sampling of the designs, which will entice the owners to take action and improve their facades for Golden’s sesquicentennial year in 2009. |
