CLEAR CREEK HISTORY PARK

This exciting project for a living history park in downtown Golden will orient the park visitors and provide a proper entry to the park, as well as provide permanent office space, a gift shop, proper display areas, a community meeting room, storage areas, a classroom, and toilet facilities.
Architecturally, the building is divided into three volumes… - The front of the building relates to the adjacent historic residential neighborhood with an inviting front porch. - The gallery utilizes a glass wall which opens to the park, and frames the visitor’s first uninterrupted view of the park from the optimum location. - The vaulted meeting room has a wrap-around deck that overlooks the park and Clear Creek. This space will be used for educational classes as well as weddings and other events.
T H E P A R K The Clear Creek History Park is a 3˝-acre park in the heart of historic downtown Golden, located along one side of 11th Street on the banks of picturesque Clear Creek.
The site consists of several original homestead buildings, including two historical cabins, a barn and chicken coop, and the 1876 one-room Guy Hill School. To complete the real-life historical perspective, the site also contains a replica blacksmith forge, hay barn, root cellar, and gold-panning sluice.
CCHP illustrates the lives of late 19th century Golden area residents by using skilled living history interpreters and exhibits. |
