This Golden-based internet software firm approached Ewers Architecture with a desire to create an office with a totally different feel. The space they had found was a typical office setting in a typical office building, but their business is anything but typical. They wanted a new space that would reflect their unique creativity. Using an open office concept with modern and minimalist ideals, we created a fun and exciting space for this growing firm. Removing the ceiling, grinding and staining the concrete floor, and covering walls with wood and cork allowed us to hide all of the finishes that would normally be found in an office setting. Playing off the company’s logo we designed round desks that could provide space for two or four employees – this flexibility offers the company ample opportunity for growth within this space. The accent wall using different size and depth wood blocks provides the perfect backdrop for this unique company of diverse and talented people who love the outdoors. The materials used in the project also speak of the company’s desire for sustainability – renewable cork on the walls, desks made from sorghum, stained concrete floors, and LED and fluorescent lighting allow Universal Mind to know that they step lightly on the environment. By hiring Ewers Architecture to design not only the layout, but also the furniture and the artwork we were able to deliver a complete package that exceeds their requirements. |
