This project is a thoughtful addition and remodel of an 1890’s home in downtown Denver.  The owners wanted to enlarge and update their kitchen, plus add a garden room that would bring in more light to this dark home.

By capturing under-utilized space in their utility room, we were able to expand the kitchen and provide them with a state-of-the art cooking area that is delightful to use.

The garden room addition uses some of the detailing of the intricate existing house, while incorporating tall windows that copy the proportions of the historic windows.  This combination creates a room that stands out in brightness but blends in with detailing and proportions.

The final effect of this project is best described in the owner’s own words as… “The transformation is magical. The garden room, because of its airiness, is a magnet for all the activities of the house, and it imparts a wonderful openness to the kitchen.”
