This unpretentious home nestled in a new development along Tucker Gulch in north Golden responds to its surroundings in many ways.

The home is primarily one-story (except for the bonus room over the garage) to keep its profile low in order to blend with the older, lower homes to the east. Through careful placement and rotation of the house on the lot we were able to maximize the house’s solar exposure, as well as provide breathtaking views of North and South Table Mountains to the east and the foothills to the west. The north and west sides of the house are packed with bathrooms, mud room and garage in order to provide a buffer from the winter winds. And the earth tone colors and stone speak to the native Colorado landscape.

Inside, the careful sculpting of spaces and internal views are inspired by Sarah Susanka’s Not So Big House concept. The open kitchen is the center of the living space, with gentle arches providing a delightful backdrop to the great room and dining room. The main floor master suite is intentionally separated from the other two bedrooms to maintain privacy and allow that space to have the atmosphere of a retreat.

From exterior to interior, this house provides for open, spacious living without sacrificing the cozy feeling that is too often lacking in new homes.
