FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PARSONAGE

The challenge of this project was to design a home to blend in with the existing historic neighborhood in downtown Golden.  Ford Street is a wonderful tree-lined street packed with 100-year old homes, and we wanted this house to become a vibrant part of this neighborhood.  From the reaction of the Golden residents, we assume that we have been successful in this endeavor…we still have people stop us on the streets to congratulate us on the design of this home.

The site is on the property of the First United Methodist Church (the church building is visible in the lower right corner of the picture), and is the home for the church’s senior pastor.  The home had to be flexible enough to provide for the needs of future pastors, be spacious enough for many guests, and be built within the church’s budget.

The spacious great room, main floor master suite, and upper floor with two bedrooms and a loft all make this house a pleasure to live in as well as entertain.  But it is the warmth of the brick, the careful detailing of the exterior, and the historic proportions that allow this house to blend with its neighbors.
