Master Suite Addition

These homeowners loved their neighborhood and the character of their existing home, but they needed more space to make the house work long-term. Rather than relocate, they chose to add a new primary suite at the rear of the home.

The addition created a private primary bedroom along with a quiet seating nook that opens directly to the backyard. Large glass doors connect the interior space to the patio, allowing the room to take full advantage of the outdoor living area and natural light.

A key goal of the project was to maintain the original character of the home from the street. By locating the addition at the back of the house, the expansion remains largely invisible from the front, preserving the scale and appearance of the existing neighborhood.

The design also carefully balanced the homeowners’ goals with a thoughtful approach to the project budget, focusing the investment on the spaces that would most improve how the home is used every day.

This project demonstrates how a well-planned addition can create meaningful new space while respecting the original home and its surroundings.
