Pop-Top Addition

Expanding a Growing Family’s Home

As their family grew, these homeowners found themselves running out of space. Rather than move, they chose to expand the home they already loved by adding a second-story “pop-top” addition.

The project added a new primary suite and an additional bedroom, creating comfortable space for their growing kids while maintaining the character of the original home. Part of the design also reconfigured the existing upper floor, converting a small bedroom into an open loft space that now functions as a flexible hangout area.

Along with the interior expansion, the exterior of the home was completely refreshed with new siding and updated materials, giving the house a cohesive and modern appearance.

Throughout the design process, we explored several exterior material and color options with the homeowners using renderings, helping them visualize how different choices would shape the final look of the home.

This project is a great example of how a thoughtful pop-top addition can transform a modest house into a long-term family home without leaving the neighborhood they love.
